Good morning, darlings!
Today I want to share with you some tips on how to make your water more palatable, or perhaps even taste GOOD! :-) Now I am not someone that needs to have a flavor to something in order to drink it- but for those who do, and for those who refrain from staying hydrated simply because of the taste- worry no more!
Instead of purchasing already made commercial beverages that advertise themselves as "flavored" water, I encourage you to make your own for several reasons! Making your own flavored water at home is easy, economical, and you do not have to consume any of those added artificial sugars, chemicals, and/or preservatives in your supposedly "healthy" drink! Did I mention you can still have your drink be practically calorie free?! The options are unlimited here!
Enjoy! :-)
1) Add your favorite cut up fresh fruit and/or vegetables!
Examples include sliced fresh strawberries, some cucumber slices, lemon, lime, fresh mint, pomegranate, watermelon, raspberries, fresh grapes, apples, and/or cranberries! Adding cut up fruit and/or cucumber infuses some of the natural refreshing juice directly into your water. Do this the night before in a pitcher, cool overnight, and your mixture will last up to 3 days! :-) If you prefer everything you drink a bit sweeter, add 1 tsp. of Agave syrup to each water bottle full of your infused water that you take with you. Agave syrup is a low-glycemic natural sweetener that does not impact blood sugar as quickly as white, refined sugar does, but contains the same sweetness as honey! :-)
2) Take some True Lemon powdered drink mix packets with you on-the-go!
True Lemon is a brand of natural crystallized water sweeteners. They make an orange flavor, lemon, grapefruit, and lime and give a fresh and crisp taste to any beverage with no added calories, chemicals, or preservatives! They also sell 5 calorie lemonade and raspberry lemonade mixes, and each of their packets contain 25% of your daily value of vitamin C! Genius! You can find this at your local grocery store in the powdered drink mix section, or online at www.truelemonstore.com!
3) Add a flavored green tea bag to your water bottle and pop it in the fridge overnight!
I discovered this trick last summer. Haha! Adding a flavored green tea bag to cold water will allow just enough flavor from the flavored tea to diffuse into your drink to give it a great taste, but not too much that your drink becomes dehydrating. My favorites are Mango green tea, Raspberry green tea, or Honey & Ginseng flavor. :-)
4) Get creative with ice!
You can use fruit juice, flavored green tea, or you can even drop some chopped up fresh mint and fruit directly into each cube in your ice tray before you pop it into the freezer! Making flavored ice cubes not only keeps your water refreshingly cold, but also adds a nice pop of flavor and color to every drink. :-)
5) & If you prefer your water bubbly, try infusing some of the flavor ideas above into seltzer water!
Doing this not only looks pretty if served in a clear wine glass when you have guests over, but it satisfies cravings that you may have otherwise for things like soda or juice! :-)
I hope you all try some of these out! :-)
Have a wonderful day!
Xo -Jess
